Hungrrry is a place to organize and share recipes you have the right to share. By using the app, you agree not to upload, post, or share any content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
By creating an account or using Hungrrry, you agree that we may collect and process the information needed to run the service, including your email address, authentication data, profile details, dietary preferences, allergens, saved recipes, cookbook activity, star ratings, sharing activity, referral activity, device/browser information, error logs, and usage events such as swipes, saves, imports, and Discover recipe pool contributions.
We use this data to provide your account, run recipe discovery, protect the app, support sharing features, troubleshoot issues, improve Hungrrry, and comply with legal obligations. Hungrrry's Discover deck applies deterministic, rule-based filtering and ordering using this data: recipes you've already swiped on are excluded; skipped recipes stay suppressed unless you include them; recipes you've saved or added to a cookbook may be resurfaced, with public or shared cookbook recipes given resurfacing priority; star ratings adjust resurfacing (1★ excluded, 2★ heavily deprioritized, 3★ neutral, 4★/5★ eligible); and your dietary preferences, allergies, dislikes, and hide-alcohol setting filter out recipes that don't fit. We do not build an advertising profile from this activity, do not use it for ad targeting, and do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for the full data collection, retention, sharing, and deletion details.
You may only upload a photo or recipe text if at least one of the following is true:
You may not photograph pages from cookbooks, magazines, websites, or other copyrighted publications and upload them to Hungrrry — even if you own a physical copy of the cookbook. Personal ownership of a book does not grant the right to copy or redistribute its contents.
Cookbooks marked public may only contain recipes that link to an external source URL. Photo-only entries cannot be added to public cookbooks. This is a technical safeguard and does not replace your responsibility to only link to lawful sources.
When you make a cookbook public, follow another creator, or like a public cookbook or creator recipe, that activity (and aggregate counts derived from it) may appear to other users on Hungrrry — including on profile pages, the public cookbook directory, and discovery pages such as cuisine, diet, meal-type, and tag landing pages. These pages may also be indexed by search engines. Private cookbooks, private saves, and your personal swipe history are never shown to other users.
When you save a recipe URL, Hungrrry stores the link, title, and og:image so the recipe can be displayed and rediscovered. We also extract the recipe's ingredient list from the page so we can (a) match recipes against other users' allergies and dietary restrictions, and (b) let you add ingredients to your grocery list. Ingredients are shown to you when you build a grocery list from a saved recipe, but they are not exported or republished publicly. We do not copy or republish the full recipe content — Hungrrry shares the link back to the original publisher, not the publisher's recipe body.
By default, the public recipe URLs you save are added to a private backend pool used to seed the Discover deck for other Hungrrry users. We store the public URL, title, og:image, and the page's ingredient list (used to honor other users' allergy and diet filters and to power their grocery lists — never republished publicly). We never store your photos, notes, or anything from private cookbooks. A URL also only surfaces in Discover after several different cooks have saved it, so nothing is publicized the moment you save it.
You can opt out at any time, in two ways: (a) turn the global setting off on your profile to stop all future contributions, or (b) edit any individual recipe in a cookbook and switch off "Share in Discover" to revoke that single recipe. When a recipe is revoked, it is removed from the Discover pool on your behalf. By saving a recipe URL while this setting is on, you confirm the URL links to content you have the right to share.
Sharing a private cookbook with another Hungrrry account is for personal, non-commercial use among people you know. Manually entered recipes and recipes in private cookbooks are intended for your own use and your shared circle — they are not surfaced in Discover, on SEO landing pages, or in public creator feeds. Sharing copyrighted material via private cookbooks is still infringement and may be removed on report.
See our Copyright / DMCA policy to report content you believe infringes your rights.
Hungrrry usernames (the @handle on your public profile) are first-come, first-served, but Hungrrry reserves the right to reassign any handle at its discretion. In particular, where a verified creator has an established online presence under a particular name, Hungrrry may reassign that handle to the creator regardless of whether the current holder is actively using it. This applies to all accounts, not only creators.
If your handle is reassigned: your account, cookbooks, saved recipes, and all other data remain intact. Only the public handle string is cleared — public profile URLs at /u/<old-handle> stop resolving to you, and you'll receive an in-app notification explaining why. You can pick any other available handle immediately from your profile settings.
Reassignment can apply even where the current holder also has a creator account (for example, impersonation or accounts trading on a more established creator's name). We never transfer user content, cookbooks, or saved data — only the public handle string itself.
Impersonating another person, brand, or creator — including posing as them to gain followers, shares, or credibility — is a serious violation of these terms. Where we determine on reasonable grounds that an account is impersonating another party, we may, in addition to or instead of reassigning the handle:
We do not remove content from unrelated users, and we will not remove a user's own private cookbooks or saved recipes as part of an impersonation action against someone else.
We may remove content and suspend accounts that repeatedly violate these terms or applicable copyright law.
Some features (e.g. recipe import parsing, generated summaries, image classification) use third-party AI providers reached through the Lovable AI Gateway. Content you submit to these features is processed only to fulfill your request. We do not use your content to train AI models, and our providers are contractually prohibited from doing so on content routed through Hungrrry.
Hungrrry is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Recipes, nutritional information, allergen tags, and dietary filters are automated, best-effort classifications derived from ingredient lists pulled from third-party sites and from creators. Imported recipes may be incomplete, mislabeled, or missing ingredients, and filter results may change over time. They are provided for general guidance only and are not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice. If you have a severe allergy or a medical dietary restriction, you must read the full ingredient list and the source page yourself before cooking — Hungrrry cannot guarantee allergen safety.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hungrrry, its operators, contributors, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hungrrry from any claim, demand, loss, or damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of (a) content you upload or share, (b) your breach of these terms, or (c) your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property or privacy rights.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. If you are located in a jurisdiction where this clause is unenforceable, the dispute will be governed by the mandatory laws and venues of that jurisdiction.
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and, where required by law, you'll be asked to re-accept the updated terms. Continued use of Hungrrry after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
